Ototochi “Tochi” Wigwe, daughter of the late Access Holdings Group Chief Executive Herbert Wigwe, has tied the knot with Lagos-based investment executive Wilson Aikhomu in a traditional marriage ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos. Videos and photos from the event began circulating online on Thursday, 5 November 2026, drawing warm messages from Nigerians who remembered the tragedy that struck the Wigwe family in 2024.
A Private Ceremony in Ikoyi
According to Pulse Nigeria and The Telegraph, the ceremony was a private affair attended by family members and close friends. The outlets reported that it featured the customary rites of a Nigerian traditional wedding, including payment of the bride price, the signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.
Clips shared on social media, which Legit.ng said were posted by accounts including one dedicated to Herbert Wigwe’s memory, showed the couple in traditional attire, smiling and dancing with guests. No public statement was issued by the couple or the family.
Who Is Wilson Aikhomu?
Wilson Aikhomu is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty, according to reports by Pulse, The Telegraph and Legit.ng. He studied finance at California State University, Northridge, and investments and risk finance at the University of Westminster in London, and previously worked with Leadway and RMB Stockbroking.
He comes from a well-known military family. The reports describe him as the son of the late Rear Admiral Joseph Aikhomu and a nephew of Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, who served as Chief of General Staff under the military government of Ibrahim Babangida. Legit.ng also reported that he was a close friend of Tochi’s late brother, Chizi.
About the Bride
Tochi Wigwe is the eldest surviving daughter of Herbert and Doreen Wigwe. She studied at New York University and holds a master’s degree from Imperial College London, according to reports. She previously worked as an analyst at Access Bank and is a director at the HOW (Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe) Foundation, the philanthropic organisation established in her father’s name.
A Family Rebuilding After Tragedy
The wedding comes more than two and a half years after the helicopter crash that shocked Nigeria and the global business community. On 9 February 2024, a chartered helicopter carrying Herbert Wigwe, his wife Doreen, their son Chizi and former Nigerian Exchange Group chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo crashed near Nipton, California, close to the Nevada border. All six people on board, including two crew members, were killed. The group had been travelling to Las Vegas, where the Super Bowl was taking place that weekend.
Herbert Wigwe was one of Africa’s most prominent bankers. Together with Aig Imoukhuede, he took over the then little-known Access Bank in 2002 and built it into one of the continent’s largest financial institutions. He was also the founder of Wigwe University in Isiokpo, Rivers State.
Many social media users described the wedding as a moment of joy for a family that has endured enormous loss, with several noting that Tochi’s parents and brother would have been proud.
What Next
The reports did not say whether a white wedding will follow, as is common for Nigerian couples. Flashinfong will share further details as they become available.
