Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed predictions by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would come third in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike, speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Monday, said he could confidently place a bet that Tinubu would win re-election.
Wike described El-Rufai’s projections as flawed, questioning why the former governor did not indicate who would come first or second if Tinubu was to emerge third. “I can bet Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election.
El-Rufai’s calculations are not only wrong but misleading,” Wike said, adding that the President’s performance and reforms were gradually repositioning the country despite current challenges.
He further downplayed the chances of Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who secured six million votes in the 2023 election, insisting that the political landscape had since shifted.
According to Wike, Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda will continue to gain ground and resonate with Nigerians, making him the candidate to beat in 2027.
