As the nation deliberates on the proposed amendment to the 2022 Electoral Act, the G17 Group acknowledges this as a bold step toward refining our democracy and building a more credible electoral future.

If elections are to hold earlier in November 2026, as proposed, it must not only adjust timelines, it must deepen trust. G17 believes this reform presents a vital opportunity to correct long-standing flaws, ensure early dispute resolution, and strengthen public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.

We make it clear: G17 is not a political party. We are a national coalition of citizens, thinkers, technocrats, and reform advocates across political divides and social classes, united by a shared resolve to fix Nigeria for all.

Our commitment is to ideas, not interests; to nation-building, not politicking. We will continue to engage constructively with policymakers, civil society, and electoral institutions to ensure that any amendment aligns with the principles of fairness, inclusion, and accountability.

Nigeria is bigger than the politics of power, it is about the purpose of governance. The conversation before us must go beyond who contests or who wins. It must center on how we build a nation where leadership emerges through competence, not convenience.

G17 stands ready to help drive that national renewal; bridging class, creed, and political colour.

We call on all Nigerians to see this amendment process not as another political manoeuvre, but as a chance to reset the soul of our democracy and rebuild faith in our institutions.

G17: One vision. One voice. One Nigeria.
