A significant incident occurred at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where a Delta Air Lines plane’s wing struck another airliner while taxiing for departure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but both aircraft suffered noticeable damage as a result of the collision.

On September 10, 2024, the wingtip of Delta Air Lines Flight 295, an Airbus A350 bound for Tokyo-Haneda, made contact with the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526, a Bombardier CRJ900 regional jet. This incident happened at approximately 10:07 AM, while both planes were on adjacent taxiways preparing for departure. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the tail of the Endeavor aircraft and the wing of the A350.

The Airbus A350 was carrying 221 passengers while the Endeavor CRJ900 had 56 on board29. Following the collision, passengers from the Endeavor flight were transported back to the terminal for re-accommodation, as Delta worked to arrange alternate flights for those affected.

Delta Airlines stated that operations at the Atlanta airport would continue as normal despite the collision, and that they were cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding the investigation into the incident49. Videos taken at the scene captured the damaged tail of the Endeavor aircraft and emergency crews assessing the situation.
