Lagos, April 24, 2025 – Air Peace has announced that it will resume flight operations on Friday, following the suspension of the industrial action by staff of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
The development was confirmed by the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, in a statement issued Thursday night in Lagos.
Ndiulo expressed the airline’s appreciation to its customers and the general public for their patience, understanding, and continued support during the strike.
“Your resilience and trust in our brand mean the world to us,” he said.
He also applauded the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), for his timely and decisive intervention, which was instrumental in resolving the dispute and restoring normalcy to the aviation sector.
According to Ndiulo, Keyamo’s proactive engagement with stakeholders, transparent leadership, and commitment to a more stable and investor-friendly aviation industry played a key role in ending the impasse.
Air Peace reiterated its dedication to providing safe, reliable, and top-quality air travel services across all routes.
NiMet workers, under the aegis of AUPCTRE, had embarked on a strike on April 22, citing poor working conditions and the non-implementation of the 2019 Consequential Adjustment on the National Minimum Wage, affecting over 30 staff members.
Their demands also included a 25/35 percent salary increase, 40 percent hardship/peculiar allowance, and annual staff training provisions.
The strike was suspended after Keyamo assured the union of the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing their concerns comprehensively.
