The passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, has elicited widespread reactions across Nigeria, with many mourning the loss and honoring his achievements.

The announcement of his death was made by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, in a statement released to the press in Owerri. The family of the late President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Engr. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, along with the entire Umuohii Atta community in Ikeduru LGA, Imo State, have been receiving condolences as groups and individuals from all walks of life visit to express their sympathies.

Among the visitors was Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, representing the Owerri Senatorial District. He described Iwuanyanwu as a significant patriarch of the Igbo nation who devoted much of his life to advocating for the Igbo cause. Onyewuchi noted that Iwuanyanwu’s passing has left an irreplaceable void in both the national political arena and the Southeast region.
