Manchester City has secured the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from French side Troyes for a transfer fee of €40 million (£30.8 million). The 20-year-old has committed to a contract with City until 2029.

Savinho had an impressive season on loan at Girona, contributing significantly to their third-place finish in La Liga with 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. Both Girona and Troyes are part of the City Football Group, facilitating his transfer to Manchester City.

Expressing his excitement about joining City, Savinho stated, “City are currently the best team in the world,” and he looks forward to working with Pep Guardiola, whom he regards as “one of the greatest coaches ever.”

Reflecting on his decision to join Manchester City, he said, “[Because of] everything I’ve seen today. I just got here this morning and I turned to my agent and stepfather and said, ‘there was no way I was going to turn down Manchester City’.” He described himself as a player who enjoys playing on the front foot, engaging in one-on-one situations, creating assists, scoring goals, and thrilling fans.

Savinho, also known as Savio, began his career at Atletico Mineiro in Brazil before moving to Troyes in 2022. Although he did not make a competitive appearance for the Ligue 2 club, he spent the 2022-23 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he made eight appearances. His successful loan spell at Girona also earned him his first senior call-up for Brazil in March.
