Keystone Bank has been named winner of the Best Training, Learning and Development (Over 1,000 Employees) category at the 2026 HR People Magazine Awards, one of Nigeria’s best-known awards for human resources and workplace practice.

The bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer was also honoured as HR Champion 2026, a recognition for chief executives who put people development at the centre of their organisations.

Announcing the win on its official social media pages, the bank said the award “reflects our commitment to helping our people build new skills, grow professionally and do their best work.”

A Win for Keystone Bank’s People Team

The award is a major achievement for Keystone Bank’s Human Resources team, led by Head of Human Resources Doyin Dosumu. Members of the bank’s management and HR team joined the MD/CEO on stage at the awards night to receive the plaque.

The Best Training, Learning and Development category recognises organisations that invest in continuous learning, leadership development and career growth for their staff. The “Over 1,000 Employees” category is one of the most competitive, as it places large employers such as banks, telecoms firms and multinationals against one another.

The bank described its MD/CEO’s HR Champion recognition as further proof of “the importance of putting people at the heart of organisational growth.”

Keystone Bank’s Investment in Its People

Keystone Bank has made staff development a key part of its repositioning in recent years. The bank runs a learning academy that trains young graduates for careers in banking. Trainees go through structured programmes covering banking operations, customer service, risk management, digital banking and leadership, before being inducted into the bank’s workforce.

For existing staff, the bank offers continuous training, professional certification support and leadership programmes designed to prepare employees for bigger roles. In a fast-changing industry shaped by digital banking, fintech competition and new regulatory requirements, such investment helps banks keep their workforce skilled and motivated.

About the HR People Magazine Awards

The HR People Magazine Awards are organised by HR People Magazine and its partners to celebrate excellence in human resource management and workplace practice in Nigeria. Categories cover areas such as training and development, employee engagement, employer branding, talent management, workplace culture and ethics, and individual leadership awards such as HR Champion of the Year.

The awards bring together HR professionals, business leaders and some of Nigeria’s biggest employers, and winners are seen as benchmarks for good people practices in the country.

Why It Matters

Nigeria’s banking sector is in the middle of a major recapitalisation drive, and banks are competing hard for skilled talent at a time when many young professionals are moving abroad, a trend widely known as “japa.” Strong training and career development programmes are one of the main ways banks can attract and keep good people.

For Keystone Bank, the award adds to a growing list of recognitions as it works to strengthen its position in the market. The bank used the hashtag #WeGrowTogether to celebrate the win with staff and customers.
