There is celebration in the family of Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel), as his youngest child, Joy Oyedepo-Abodunrin, has reportedly welcomed her second child with her husband, Abimbola Abodunrin.

News of the birth spread on social media this week, with church-focused pages describing the baby as the 12th grandchild of Bishop Oyedepo and his wife, Pastor Faith Oyedepo. According to the posts, Pastor Faith was seen in Abuja spending time with the newborn, and the family has given thanks for a safe delivery.

The Oyedepo family has not yet made a public statement about the birth, and details such as the baby’s name and sex have not been shared. Flashinfong will update this story if the family confirms further details.

Congratulations Pour In

Since the news began circulating, Winners’ Chapel members and well-wishers have flooded social media with congratulatory messages for Joy, her husband and the wider Oyedepo family. Many have shared prayers for the mother and baby, while others recalled the couple’s widely celebrated wedding six years ago.

A Wedding to Remember

Joy, the last of Bishop and Pastor Faith Oyedepo’s four children, married Abimbola Abodunrin on August 22, 2020. The white wedding took place at the Covenant University Chapel in Ota, Ogun State, with the traditional ceremony held a day earlier.

The wedding was a special day for the family for another reason: it fell on Bishop and Pastor Faith Oyedepo’s own wedding anniversary, as the couple married on August 22, 1982. Photos of the bishop and his wife walking their daughter down the aisle in matching outfits went viral at the time.

The Oyedepo Children

Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Faith Oyedepo have four children, all of whom are involved in ministry:

  • David Oyedepo Jr., a pastor in the Living Faith Church;
  • Isaac Oyedepo, also a pastor in the church;
  • Love Oyedepo-Ogah, who is married to Pastor Ogah; and
  • Joy Oyedepo-Abodunrin, the youngest.

Pastor Faith Oyedepo has often spoken warmly about her grandchildren on social media. In a 2023 post, she recalled that the couple could not afford the naming ceremony they wanted for their son Isaac years ago, but thanked God that they can now travel to celebrate the naming of their grandchildren.

Why Nigerians Follow the Oyedepo Family So Closely

Few church families in Nigeria attract as much public attention as the Oyedepos. Millions of people worship at Winners’ Chapel branches every week, and the bishop’s family milestones, from birthdays and weddings to wedding anniversaries, regularly trend on Nigerian social media. Church members often see these moments as a reflection of the “covenant blessings” the bishop preaches about, especially the church’s teaching on family, marriage and children.

That is why news of a new grandchild, even before an official announcement, quickly drew thousands of reactions online. For many members, it is a personal celebration as much as a family one.
